Neighborhood Savings Group offers its members two price options:
1: a market rate structure
2: fixed pre-buy options
With our market rate structure, the rates are not fixed. The pricing for propane, fuel oil and kerosene are based off of our suppliers laid-in cost (what the supplier pays to have the product delivered to their local facility) plus a fixed adder. The benefit to this price structure is that you know exactly how much above the market you are being charged and that your pricing follows the market consistently. The prices are updated daily. If the market goes up $.10 your rate goes up. Likewise if the market goes down.
In 2015-2016, our propane members paid an average of $1.17/gallon less than the State of VT reported retail rate. Our fuel oil members paid an average of $.10/gallon less.
The fixed pre-buy is exactly as it sounds. You secured a specific number of gallons to be delivered to you at a fixed rate. No matter how high or how low the market goes, those gallons will be delivered at your contracted fixed rate. Participation is completely up to the individual member. If you choose to do so, you will be delivered at a fixed rate during the specified period and up to the specified number of gallons you commit to. Deliveries made outside of that period or any extra gallons delivered during that time frame will be billed at based on our market rate that day.
